About the Structure of This Course

The course is structured to accommodate asynchronous and synchronous learning modalities. Participants will be able to engage the material at their own pace and take part in three scheduled synchronous sessions designed to deepen understanding and facilitate peer exchange. Live sessions will occur after the completion of each module, fostering a dynamic learning environment that combines independent study with collaborative discussion.

Both the asynchronous and the synchronous aspects of the course are designed to be interactive, featuring case studies, participatory discussions, and practical assignments to ensure learning is engaging and applicable. Tools such as reflective journals and peer feedback forums will support participants in integrating trauma-informed approaches into their practice and fostering environments that are safe and empowering for all students.

The culmination of the course involves a practical project where participants will apply one key principle from the course to their own educational context. This exercise allows participants to reflect deeply on their learning in the course with the aim of envisioning and transforming a specific teaching and learning space into a more trauma-informed and growth-oriented environment. Participants will present their ideas for their final project during the last synchronous session, enabling us to share our experiences and learn from each other’s implementations.

By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to effect meaningful change in their educational settings. They will be better able to support the creation and maintenance of educational spaces where students and educators thrive through an evidence-based, empathetic and caring approach.
